Patient Participation Group - New members needed

The Patient Participation Group are individuals who meet regularly with the Practice team. The group acts as a communication link between the patients, Practice staff and other regional patient groups to help communicate patient views. Surveys are conducted regularly to help the group to understand patients views and the results from these are published so the Practice can see how to improve over time.

The group holds open meetings frequently and they each focus on specific topics/developments that affect the patients and the Practice.

All patients in the practice are automatically members of the Patients' Forum. The primary purpose of the Forum is to provide a channel of communication between our patients and the practice.

The Forum is run by a committee of patients from both surgeries which meets several times a year. Meetings are attended by one of the GPs and/or one of the practice management team. The practice seeks your views on proposed changes to the operation of the practice. Issues raised by patients can be discussed with the practice at these meetings. Members of the committee also attend regular meetings of the Portsmouth ICBs Patient Participation Group. (The ICB is the statutory NHS body which commissions local health services).

Aims

A Patient Participation Group has been established for a few years now at Craneswater Group Practice and here are the aims we would like to achieve for our patients:

  • Provide a channel of communication between the patients and Craneswater Group Practice
  • Provide a means for patients to make a positive contribution to the continuous improvement of services by way of constructive feedback.
  • Help the Practice to promote wider health education.
  • Have an influence on any changes to improve the provision of health services.

We aim to gather patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.
